A Poem by Edgar Lee Masters: George Gray
I have studied many times
The marble which was chiseled for me -
A boat with a furled sail at rest in a harbor.
In truth it pictures not my destination
But my life.
For love was offered me and I shrank from disillusionment;
Sorrow knocked at my door, but I was afraid;
Ambition called to me, but I dreaded the chances.
Yet all the while I hungered for meaning in my life.
And now I know what we must lift the sail
And catch the winds of destiny
Wherever they drive the boat.
To put meaning in one's life may end in madness,
But life without meaning is the torture
Of restlessness and vague desire -
It is a boat longing for the sea and yet afraid.

What will this NEW Year Bring?
It's 2004 and I'm excited. C and I were both off for the New Year and I really wanted to do something special - just the two of us. This will be our 6th New Year celebration together and we really never do anything WOW! So what WOW did you think I came up with? Not much of a WOW. Guess we were tired, and not only that but we had a lot of bills due so we really couldn't go all out, and not that we would anyway. We went to dinner at Kim Son, drove around and got a cup of coffee and sat and talked at Salento's. It was getting late so we hurried home for the countdown, only we got into watching some lame TV show and nearly missed the NYC Time Square countdown. They had one in Austin but I really couldn't care less. I'll always be an Eastern Time gal. We decided to dress up just for the last 30 minutes of the year. He wore his suit and put on his red satin bikini ;oP. I donned my black strapless gown and put on heels just so it wouldn't drag on the ground. I must've taken longer than I thought cause C started yelling, "Buddy, hurry up it's almost midnight." It was only almost 11 central here but we were looking at the NYC celeb. I ran out into the living room just barely enough time to do the last 15 seconds. 5...4....3....2....1....Happy New Year! We made a Toast on Lambrusco wine and kiss and hugged (awwww). Then C went back into his room, slipped into shorts and a T-shirt and sat in front of the TV. I went to the bedroom, removed my gown, kicked off my heels and went on the computer. I tried to call my sister - who was in Vancouver - with Hottie Rod of all people. Oh well. Now, doesn't this sound like we've been married for 20 years already?

Antoine de Saint-Exupery: (excerpts from his books)
THE LITTLE PRINCE:
"One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes."
"People have forgotten this truth," the fox said. "But you musn't forget it. You become responsible forever for what you've tamed."
FLIGHT TO ARRAS:
Love is not thinking, but BEING.
Pure logic is the ruin of the SPIRIT.

No I'm not DEAD.
I haven't really posted much on here since last time. I don't intend on using this as a daily diary/journal per se. I mean, I have a lot of things to say, but I don't just want to blurb for the sake of blurbing - which is what I'm doing now. I just wanted to post something so that anyone who cared would know that I wasn't dead.
